Static Shielding BagsElectrostatic discharge can be death to sensitive components. It has got be controlled Miller Poly Bags static shielding bags do just that, and more. Buried metal construction provides Faraday Cage Protection while the amine/amide-free interior will not attack polycarbonate surfaces. Miller Poly Bags broad inventory of static shielding bags along with our eight distribution facilities in the U.S. makes us your number one choice for poly bags. So, if static control as well as inventory control is essential to you, make it Miller Poly Bags. Superior ESD Protection Stratogrey™ static shielding bags are designed for packaging products requiring electrostatic-discharge protection. The bags offer superior ESD (Electrostatic Discharge Susceptibility) protection for CMOS, MOS and other highly ESD -sensitive components. Transparent, Non-Contaminating These bags are transparent for easy identification of package contents and may be printed with company logo or product information. The bag contains no N-octanoic acid and are compatible with polycarbonate materials. Static Shielding bags are humidity-independent and heat-sealable to protect from moisture and dust during handling and storage.
Meets EIA Standards StratoGrey bags meet the requirements of EIA Std 541. The bags also meet the electrical and physical requirements of MIL-PRF-81705D, Type III Class 1 but are not QPL approved. MIL-B-81705 (Conductive/ Anti-Static)

What is ESD? ESD stands for "Electro-Static Discharge". In simple terms it is static electricity discharge like you experience when you rub your feet on the carpet and subsequently touch metal. What is an ESD bag? These bags are also called "shielding bags" or "static shielding bags", and are designed to provide protection for their contents against any harmful insult by an ESD. Static shiedling bags are typically constructed from a multi-layered semi-transparent metallic grey material. When properly sealed these bags form a "Faraday Cage*" effect around the bag which protects the contents from external static. Static shielding bags are heat sealable and are designed to hold a vacuum. Most electronics end-users insist that they be stamped on the outside with the ESD warning logo as well as a date and lot number. *note: Farady Cage is the name give to a device that shields from electric fields generated by static electricity. What are ESD pouches (bags) made of? Static shielding bags are made of aluminized polyester and polyethylene with static dissipative inner and outer coatings. ET is used on the outer film layer becaue it is stronger and somewhat cheaper than LDPE and it is much easier to metalize than LDPE. LDPE is used on the iner layer because it heat seals better than PET. What are "metal in" and "metal out" ESD Bags? Our stock bags are "metal in" bags whereby the aluminum component of the bag is buried inside the bag under the polyester film layer. This makes the bag more durable and less susceptible to puncture in the aluminum which can deter the "Faraday Cage" effect. "Metal out" bags have the aluminum layer exposed on the outside of the bag. While these bags provide a slightly more consistent level of ESD protection under ideal circumstances they are more delicate than a metal in construction. |
