Film Additives
-A diverse group of specialty chemicals incorporated into plastic formulations before or during processing, or to the surfaces of finished products after processing.
-Their primary purpose is to modify the behavior of plastics during processing or to impart useful properties to fabricated plastic articles. (Modern Plastics Encyclopedia 1995).
-Additives can be incorporated into plastics to alter their physical, mechanical, or chemical properties.
-Additives are commonly used to protect poly bags from the degrading effects of ultraviolet light, heat, or bacteria.
-Additives are also used to provide coloring or reduce friction.
Typical film additives include:
High Clarity Additives
for additional clarity and visibility
EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl-Acetate)
for additional strength and stretch
Anti-Slip and Blocking Additives
for easy opening and to avoid slippage during stacking
Anti-Static Additives
for Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) protection
UVI (ultra violet inhibitors) Additives
for prolonged product shelf-life when exposed to sunlight
Carbon Black Additives
for visible and ultra violet light protection
Flame Retardant Additives
for heat resistance and flame resistance
Color Pigment Additives
for solid or tint coloring
